Turn your paper electronicDo you ever get a “PDF” attachment to an email?

It could be a brochure, letter or even an invoice.

Think the person who sent it was some geeky whizz-kid? Wrong. If you know how to print a letter, you can be quickly producing PDFs yourself.

There are expensive pieces of software out there. But as I know the readers of this blog love value-for-money, I’ll show you how to do it cost-free.

And if you’re a client, I’ll do it for you (through a remote session as part of your contract - ask to speak to Ian Denny on 0151 236 4444).

But For The DIYers Out There, Here’s How It’s Done

Firstly, you need to install the software to do this.

Visit this site first - Cute PDF - and then take a look at this:

Circled in red, you will notice two pieces of software to download and install. Install both.

Now that’s done, you are ready to produce your first PDF.

The best way to do this is with an example. So, please open a Word document you already have or create one.

Now this may be a slight disappointment because it’s so easy. Simply choose “Print” from the file menu, and then choose “CutePDF Writer” instead of your usual printer. Like this:

Print Screen Where You Create Your PDF

The next screen will ask you to give a filename to your PDF - just like when you’re saving a file. Just choose a name, and where you want to save it:

And you’re done.

The same principle applies to any other software you use. Simply choose “Print” and change your printer setting to “CutePDF Writer” to be able to save your file as a PDF.
